What's a Belfry?: A belfry is a bell tower; especially one attached to a building. 
See image at right. The Moravian Church of Downey's belfry was attached when the church was built in 1954 as a replica of one at Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The event "Belfry Run/Walk" is a play on the "Steeple Chase" track event.
Who is that on the logo? Our logo design this year (thank you Randy Cano!) includes silhouettes of some of last year's participants. Recognize anyone?
