Supporting Moravian Disaster Response's relief efforts locally, nationally and worldwide
2010 is our 3rd Annual 5k Run/Walk to "Help Us Help Others." We're running (and walking) to support Moravian Disaster Response's (MDR) disaster relief efforts in Haiti, Honduras, USA... worldwide! MDR facilitates congregations, organizations, and individuals, in flexible configurations, to become a mission team and respond to a disaster either locally, nationally or internationally. MDR is a ministry of Moravian Board of World Mission. Several major disasters have recently captured our attention (Earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, clean up efforts still taking place after Hurricanes Felix and Katrina and in Honduras to name a few) and our prayers are with those affected. This year, rather than choose one cause, we decided to support the work of a group that helps respond to many needs, both at home and around the world. Distribution of 2009 5k Funds:
Our 2009 5k netted approximately $4,600 in donations and we are pleased to report that we’ve had the opportunity to do wonderful things to help others with the money raised.
The funds raised by our 2009 5k supported the missions and ministries of the Moravian Church of Downey and included causes such as PTA Helps, La Casita, Board of World Mission and more.
